Working out outdoors this summer? Here's what you absolutely need to know.

If we haven't met yet, I'm Carla Kay, a mom of two and a prenatal, postpartum, and diastasis recti fitness coach.

Today, I wanted to share my top tips for safely continuing your workouts, even when it's very hot.

Summer is the perfect season to go out and get some fresh air. A walk after dinner, a run at sunrise, a workout session at the park… Personally, I love taking advantage of good weather to get active.

However, it's important to know that in hot weather, your body doesn't react in the same way. It's already working very hard to maintain its temperature, which can make you feel more out of breath, less energetic, and sweat much faster.

The good news? You don't have to stop working out. You just need to adapt a few habits.

Choose the right time

If you can, prioritize workouts early in the morning or in the evening, when the sun is less intense. Your body will be more comfortable, you'll perform better, and your workout will be much more enjoyable.

Hydrate before you even feel thirsty

One of the biggest mistakes I see is waiting until you're thirsty to drink. By then, your body is already dehydrated. Shop Santé's Hydralytes can help.

Start hydrating well before your workout, continue during your session, and remember to replace electrolytes if you sweat a lot or exercise for a long time.

Listen to your body

When it's very hot, it's not the time to try to break a record. Slowing down, shortening your session, or taking a few breaks doesn't mean you're regressing.

On the contrary, it's what will allow you to stay consistent throughout the summer.

My summer workout essentials

When temperatures rise, I also like to adapt my routine with a few products that help me recover better.

BCAAs are an excellent ally for supporting muscle recovery after a hot weather workout.

VRAC - Bcaa - 100g

Greens and Berries are also an excellent addition to my daily routine to support my energy and start the day well, especially when it's very hot.

Ultimately, it's not the most intense workout that yields the best results… it's the one you can do again tomorrow, the day after, and all summer long!
