Fat loss is probably the most frequently asked objective when I meet clients in consultation! Fat loss is a complex subject, influenced by many factors such as sleep, hormones, stress and lifestyle habits. However, it's important to understand that the essential key is calorie restriction. Today, I'm going to focus on this point to provide you with simple and effective information.
What is calorie restriction?
Caloric restriction means consuming fewer calories than your body burns on a daily basis. This approach forces your body to draw on its fat reserves to obtain the energy it needs, thus promoting weight loss! It's that simple.
My two key tips in relation to calorie restriction:
1. Get enough protein
Most people don't get enough protein in their daily diet. Protein plays a major role in fat loss by helping to maintain muscle mass, which is essential for a healthy metabolism. In addition, they increase the feeling of satiety, which can help reduce overall calorie intake. Choose lean protein sources such as chicken, fish, legumes and low-fat dairy products. Protein powders or protein snacks can also be great options to ensure you reach your goals:
2. Increase your fiber intake
Fiber is essential for creating a lasting feeling of satiety. It slows digestion and prolongs the feeling of fullness after meals, which can help avoid cravings and overindulgence. Include more vegetables, fruit, whole grains and legumes in your diet to increase your fiber intake. Fiber supplements can also be a good option.
A little tip: if you're going out to eat and you know you're having trouble keeping your portions reasonable, eat a portion of fibre before you leave, which will give you the impression of being "full", so you'll tend to eat less.
In conclusion, these two little tips should already help you in your fat loss objective. By increasing your protein and fibre intake, you can not only promote fat loss, but also adopt a healthier, more balanced diet.
IMPORTANT:
Don't forget to consult a health professional before starting any new eating plan. It's also important to take things slowly. Major, rapid changes to your diet can cause discomfort, bloating and so on. Start with small adjustments!
